The Dark Mod
The Dark Mod was developed by a solid group of professionals and talented amateurs from all over the globe. Most were motivated by their love of Thief 1 and 2, and saw the mod as a way of delivering the stealth experience they wished T3 had been. The Dark Mod was first released as a mod for Doom 3 in October 2009. It became its own self-contained game in October, 2013, and since then has been updated on a regular basis.

Freeciv

Freeciv is a Free and Open Source empire-building strategy game inspired by the history of human civilization. Players take the role of tribal leaders in 4000 B.C. who must guide their peoples through the centuries. Over time, new technologies are discovered, which allow the construction of new city buildings and the deployment of new units. Players can wage war on one another or form diplomatic relationships.
The game ends when one civilization has eradicated all others or accomplished the goal of space colonization at a given deadline. If more than one civilization remains at the deadline, the player with the highest score wins. Points are awarded for the size of a civilization, its wealth, and cultural and scientific advances.
FreeOrion
FreeOrion is a free, open source, turn-based space empire and galactic conquest (4X) computer game being designed and built by the FreeOrion project. FreeOrion is inspired by the tradition of the Master of Orion games, but is not a clone or remake of that series or any other game.

Mindustry
Mindustry is a hybrid tower-defense sandbox factory game. Create elaborate supply chains of conveyor belts to feed ammo into your turrets, produce materials to use for building, and defend your structures from waves of enemies. Features include a map editor, 24 built-in maps, cross-platform multiplayer and large-scale PvP unit battles.
NetHack
NetHack is a single player dungeon exploration game that runs on a wide variety of computer systems, with a variety of graphical and text interfaces all using the same game engine. Unlike many other Dungeons & Dragons-inspired games, the emphasis in NetHack is on discovering the detail of the dungeon and not simply killing everything in sight - in fact, killing everything in sight is a good way to die quickly. Each game presents a different landscape - the random number generator provides an essentially unlimited number of variations of the dungeon and its denizens to be discovered by the player in one of a number of characters: you can pick your race, your role, and your gender.
But that's a very dry description.
Oolite
Oolite: an open-world space opera. Oolite is inspired by the 8-bit classic Elite, and many aspects of gameplay will be familiar to players of that game. In the tradition of open-world games, there's no overall story: you can be a millionaire trader, a veteran combateer, a feared pirate, a lonely miner, a notorious smuggler, or all of them, or something else entirely, based on your own actions.

OpenTTD
OpenTTD is an open source simulation game based upon Transport Tycoon Deluxe. OpenTTD is an open source simulation game based upon the popular Microprose game “Transport Tycoon Deluxe”, written by Chris Sawyer. It attempts to mimic the original game as closely as possible while extending it with new features. OpenTTD is modelled after the original Transport Tycoon game by Chris Sawyer and enhances the game experience dramatically. Many features were inspired by TTDPatch while others are original.
Pingus
Pingus is a free Lemmingstm-like puzzle game covered under the GNU GPL. It features currently 77 playable levels and runs under a wide variety of operating systems (Linux, Windows, MacOSX, etc.)
Pioneer
Pioneer is a space adventure game set in our galaxy at the turn of the 33rd century.
The game is open-ended, and you are free to eke out whatever kind of space-faring existence you can think of. Explore and trade between millions of star systems. Red Eclipse 2
A free arena shooter. Red Eclipse is a fun-filled new take on the first person arena shooter, featuring parkour, impulse boosts, and more. The development is geared toward balanced gameplay, with a general theme of agility in a variety of environments
Stunt Rally
Stunt Rally is a racing game with rally style of driving, mostly on gravel.
It features a rich variety of 172 tracks in 34 sceneries also on other planets.
Track difficulty ranges from short and easy to very difficult stunt tracks including jumps, skewed loops, pipes winding in 3D, obstacles or all at once.
There are 20 cars to choose, 1 motorbike, 3 hovering spaceships and 1 bouncing sphere. The latter provide a fast and easier gameplay on flat tracks.
Game modes include: Single Race, Tutorials, Championships, Challenges, Multiplayer and Split Screen. Also Replays and Ghost drive are present.
The Track Editor allows creating and modifying tracks. It uses a 3D spline generated road.
SuperTuxKart

In Story mode, you must face the evil Nolok, and defeat him in order to make the Mascot Kingdom safe once again! You can race by yourself against the computer, compete in several Grand Prix cups, or try to beat your fastest time in Time Trial mode. You can also race, battle or play soccer with up to eight friends on a single computer, play on a local network or play online with other players all over the world.

Unvanquished
Unvanquished is a real-time strategy game played as a first-person shooter where evolving aliens and heavily armed humans fight for their survival.
Unvanquished is a free, open-source first-person strategy game shooter, pitting technologically advanced human soldiers against hordes of highly adaptable aliens. Players can choose from either team, providing for an entirely different experience on both sides, as humans focus on long-range firepower while aliens rely instead on quick movement and stealth. The goal of each match is to destroy the enemy base, preventing members of the opposing team from spawning. Upgrades for both teams are earned by a combination of individual performance and team map control, unlocking access to more powerful weapons and equipment for the humans, and larger, more ferocious forms for the aliens.

Vega Strike is an Open Source Cross-Platform 3D Space Flight Simulator that allows a player to explore, trade, and fight in the vast open space. You start in an old beat up cargo ship, with endless possibilities before you and just enough cash to scrape together a life. Yet danger lurks in the space beyond.
Warzone 2100

A 100% free and open-source 3D real-time strategy game. Warzone 2100, released in 1999 and developed by Pumpkin Studios, was a ground-breaking and innovative 3D real-time strategy game.
In 2004 Eidos, in collaboration with Pumpkin Studios, decided to release the source for the game under the terms of the GNU GPL, including everything but the music and in-game video sequences, which were released later.
Widelands
Widelands is a free, open source real-time strategy game with singleplayer campaigns and a multiplayer mode. The game was inspired by Settlers II™ (© Bluebyte) but has significantly more variety and depth to it. Still, it is easy to get started through playable tutorials.
Wizznic!
The goal in Wizznic, is to clear all bricks from a level, you do this by moving bricks around so that bricks of the same kind touch each other, which makes them disintegrate with happiness! This sounds a lot easier than it is, of course (because it's a puzzle game).
Yorg
Yorg is a free open source racing game for Windows, OSX and Linux.
The main elements of the game are:
- third person visual perspective;
- arcade-style;
- 8 different drivers to choose from;
- 8 different cars;
- 7 different tracks;
- AI;
- power-ups (who said cheating is for losers?);
- weapons (oh yes, you will fire your enemies up!);
- championships (so you can show you it wasn't just a one time luck!);
- online multiplayer (because is funnier to rule over friends, than over machines!);
- local multiplayer.
